17.04.2007 > Give children a voice - Brussels: The IFM-SEI welcomes the EU initiative for a strategy on the rights of the child (0 - 18 years).
Until now a online questionnaire for children with internet access and a few seminars for members of a private association were the only means to involve children. This is not enough. The EU has to give children a voice. The European Youth Forum, representing 10 millions of children and young people and because of this being the highest legitimated body of children and youth organisations, must get a say in this process. You can't adopt a children's rights strategy and make their participation just an ornament...

Child Labour increases illiteracy - Peking, 03/04/2007 According to Chinese press sources illiteracy has grown in only 5 years by 30 Million people. The reason for the 116 Million illiterated people is that poor people in populated rural areas can't effort to send their children to school. Very often they send them as workers to the big cities instead of schools.
