CRC Anniversary, 2009

IFM-SEI CRC 20th Anniversary logo Two children dancing
This year is a big celebration for organisations like ours - who are working for and with children - it's the 20th anniversary of the UN Convention on the rights of the child (further CRC).
20 years ago the United Nations General Assembly adopted the CRC on 20th November, 1989. It started to be applicable on 2nd September, 1990.

It was an amazing step forward, because the Convention was modern enough and included not only articles on Protection of children, but also Provision and Participation (so called three main pillars of the CRC). And it is the first international treaty that incorporated the full range of human rightscivil, cultural, economic, political and social rights.

CRC Anniversary celebrations in the IFM-SEI organisations
As an international children and youth movement, we all agreed to have celebrations of this important date.
To celebrate together and at the same time remember that we have friends who are celebrating all over the world. We have created a logo for the CRC Anniversary. You can download it and use it for publications, leaflets, T-shirts.
DOWNLOAD LOGO
Logo is uploaded in Corel Draw format to be able to use it for publications, but most of you will not be able to open them. It is a programme mostly used by printing companies. Colors of the logo can be easily changed and adapted.
If you want to take a look at different examples of the logo, please download a PDF document. But do not use it for publications, because the quality in Pdf format is bad.

How is your organisation planning to do to mark this date?International group pf children in the International camp in Dobriach, Austria.

We all agreed to share our ideas with each other. You have some kind of a plan or just one idea - SHARE IT WITH THE OTHERS!!!

Send your ideas to contact@ifm-sei.org and we will upload them all online.

Here are some of the ideas what to do:

Children running in a sportshall 1. Organise different activities in public spaces, schools, educational centres around the week of 20th November - play games with children, give them information about Children's rights;
2. Prepare a big poster - draw the 20th CRC Anniversary logo from IFM-SEI on it and ask children to draw, doodle or write on it - what are their dreams.
3. Take pictures of all the activities that you organise and we are going to upload them alltogether to show how the importance of this documents is celebrated by children all over the world.
4. Create a page on your website devoted to CRC and its' 20th anniversary.

Nuoret Kotkain Keskulliito (IFM-SEI organisation in Finland) is organising an International Falcon Camp on the CRC (14-23 July, 2009).
The camp will have many different activities ranging from craft works to outdoor activities,  hiking trips to the surrounding nature and bus trips to the city of Forssa and camp-wide events such as the opening and closing ceremonies, nature day and the UN CRC 20 years celebration.
